About Me

My name is Will Gibson and I ride bikes… a lot! I am from Northumberland in the UK and have taken my bike to some pretty amazing places so far in my life; whether it be in my back yard or on the other side of the world, I have an ambition to explore the world with my bike.

When choosing where to live, work or study I have chosen places that would be good for riding, so far I have lived in; Aberdeen (Scotland), Ljubjana (Slovenia), London (England), currently Grenoble (France) and will next year be in Trondheim (Norway), London actually turned out to be better for biking than expected by the way. As you can see, so far I am doing alright, having lived in a few great locations for mountain biking and visited several others.

For quite some time I have wanted to live in the Alps in France, I think its due to all the stories I read on mountain bike websites or in magazines about trips here. In September 2013 I decided that after working for a year in London I would apply to finish my masters degree in architecture in Grenoble, the biggest city in the alps. I spent a year in the city before having the chance to study in another country as an exchange student, I applied and was lucky to get a place in Trondheim, Norway where I spent almost a year, an amazing country and somewhere I will certainly be back to live in again. After this year I was asked by someone I know from Ride Slovenia asked if I would like to help working there, so I spent the summer working as a chef/cleaner/guide/driver/general busy body over in Slovenia. Since this last September I moved back to Grenoble for my final year of my masters in architecture and will hopefully be finished that in June 2016 and then who knows where I will go.

Given that I have been doing a lot of travelling with my bike, riding in some quite unusual places and often like taking a lot of photos I thought this would be a good place to recount all my stories.

  1. Are those norrona shorts? What model, and are they awesome? You seem like the guy to ask. 🙂 love the articles

    1. Hi Kevin, I did not see this comment for a while so I hope it is not too late to reply. The Norrona shorts are great, they have a really nice fit and material, little stretch and bit softer than other shorts i’ve had which makes them nice and comfortable, nice length on your leg also. Only very slight problem I would say is the hip pockets are rather small, for example if it is chilly while you are standing around you can’t get your whole hand in there to keep them warm, big enough for a tool or a pair of gloves though + there is a large picket on the leg for bigger things. They are Norrona Fjora shorts.

      1. Thanks! Just was looking for a solid pair of riding shorts for all kinds of riding excursions and generally will pay for quality if it’s warranted. You’ve done some great riding adventures and its inspired me get out there and plan some of my own. Cheers
