One of the reasons I wanted to spend a bit longer at home over Christmas than normal was so that I could go riding with my little brother Harry who is 18, since I live all over the place and he lives at home I hardly ever get to ride with him, therefore each time I do he seems to be about 10 times faster than the last. It had been a long time since I rode with him so I was looking forward to it and also to see if he was as fast as me yet!

We set off with his friend Liam, who was coming to film him all day, to Hamsterly for the day, we tried to set off early since it was one of the shortest days of the year meaning it was a cold and frosty start to the morning.

Harry has always been into DH much more than anything else (however he has just replaced his DH bike with a 2015 Commencel Meta V3 so watch this space, he may well appear more in this blog) so he and his mates spent the day on the DH trails however I needed to stretch my legs a little bit more so set of on a lap of the black loop.

I managed to smash my front wheel into a very square edge root about 50m into the first descent which resulted in a grumpy trudge back to the car after about 10m of riding. Once that was fixed however I made it round the loop which I must recommend if you are after a quick adrenaline filled hour ride!

I came back for the afternoon and spent it riding the DH trails with Harry, I think it is safe to say he is just as fast as me however I still had the bigger balls to hit a few of the bigger gaps, even on the smaller bike…
